Question

Hello everybody,
I've recently seen something which trouble seems strange to me..."I do apologise"
- Why is 'do' placed between "I" and "apologise" ?
- Is there a difference among "I do apologise" and "I apologise" ?
- Can I do it with other verbs "I do eat" "I do play" and so on ...
- Isn't there a form which is used more than the other one ?
If someone can help me, it will be very nice (Maybe the question is stupid and sorry for that but i really don't get it)
Have a nice evening !

  • I've recently seen something which trouble seems strange to me..."I do apologise"
    - Why is 'do' placed between "I" and "apologize" ?
Pense également à la forme interrogative?
Do you play piano? (tu réponds dans l'affirmative) Yes, I do (ce qui évite de répéter le verbe tout en le renforçant) et si je réponds Yes I do play (je joue vraiment du piano

    - Is there a difference among "I do apologise" and "I apologise" ?
le "do" insiste sur apologize .  "je vous prie vraiment de m'excuser

    - Can I do it with other verbs "I do eat" "I do play" and so on ...
I do play je joue vraiment
oui avec tous les verbes mais pas avec les axiliaires être et avoir et les verbes modaux

    - Isn't there a form which is used more than the other one ?
La forme sans le "do".  Bien sûr si nous ne voulons pas insiter sur le fait que l'on fait quelque chose

If someone can help me, it will be very nice (Maybe the question is stupid and sorry for that but i really don't get it)

    J'espère que mes explications t'apporteront de l'aide.
